According to an article by msn, two suspected poachers were shot dead by Rangers on wednesday night. The Mozambiquen nationals were fatal wounded by the rangers during an anti-poaching operation conducted that night. The rangers were conducting an anti-poaching operation, after 8 dehorned rhino carcasses were found on Tuesday, SA National Parks (SANParks) spokesman Reynold Thakhuli reported. Apparently, the field rangers came into contact with a group of suspected poachers and a shoot-out began between the two groups.
According to Thakhuli, 375 rifle and other hunting equipment was discovered. Too bad about the death of the poachers, but the police is requesting the public for information that would help arrest future poachers!
Msn reports that last year alone, about 443 rhinos were killed for their horns, with 333 killed in 2010. Now that is massive numbers and just imagine what that would do to our ecosystem!
